Cookies Policy

Effective date

April 5, 2026

Pean's current web implementation uses cookies and similar technologies mainly for authentication, secure session handling, and optional web push functionality.

1. Why This Policy Exists

This Cookies Policy explains how Pean uses cookies and similar client-side technologies on the website and web map.

2. What We Use Today

  • Authentication cookies required to keep users signed in to the web experience.
  • Security-related session state needed to protect access to authenticated pages and complete sign-in flows.
  • Session storage flags used by the website to manage short-lived sign-in state in the browser.
  • Browser service worker and push subscription data, but only if you enable web push notifications.

3. Strictly Necessary Use

These technologies support features the user specifically asks for, such as signing in, accessing the private web map, and receiving web push notifications after opting in.

Because of that, our current implementation is aimed at essential service operation rather than advertising or analytics profiling.

4. What We Do Not Use In This Project

  • No advertising cookies.
  • No third-party behavior-tracking pixels.
  • No analytics or heatmap scripts in the current repository.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings and remove previously stored cookies from your browser at any time. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other secure parts of Pean from working correctly.

You can also disable browser push permissions from your browser or device settings.

6. Future Changes

If Pean later adds non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we should update this policy and, where legally required, ask for consent before those technologies are activated.
