1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Pean handles personal data when you use the Pean mobile app, Apple Watch companion experience, website, and web map available through pean.me.

Pean is designed around private place saving. Your saved spots are private by default, and we do not sell your personal data or share your private spots with other users unless you choose to share them through product features such as group access.

2. Data We Collect

• Account data, such as your Apple account identifier, email address if provided by Apple, display name, and profile details you add later like nickname, phone number, or avatar.
• Place data, such as saved coordinates, notes, categories, timestamps, source device, and media you upload for a spot.
• Collaboration data, such as groups you create or join, invitations, group roles, and records of which spots you shared to a group.
• Notification data, such as push tokens, notification preferences, and in-app notification history.
• Website session and device data, such as authentication cookies, session storage flags, and browser push subscriptions needed to keep the signed-in web map working securely.

3. How We Use Data

• To authenticate you with Sign in with Apple and keep your account signed in.
• To save, sync, display, organize, and back up your spots across iPhone, Apple Watch, and the web map.
• To process and host photos and avatars you upload.
• To let you keep spots private, share them to groups, or publish them on the public map only when you explicitly choose to do so.
• To deliver product notifications that you enabled, including group invites and shared spot updates.
• To secure the service, prevent abuse, debug failures, and maintain service reliability.

4. When We Share Data

We do not share your private spots or other personal data with unrelated third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

• With other users only when you intentionally share a spot, mark a spot public, or join collaborative group features.
• With service providers that help us run Pean, such as Apple for authentication, Cloudflare R2-compatible object storage for hosted images, and push delivery providers for enabled notifications.
• When required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, or security of Pean, our users, or others.

5. Cookies And Similar Technologies

On the website, Pean uses essential cookies and similar technologies to keep sign-in sessions working, protect access to the web map, and remember short-lived session state needed for the requested service.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or analytics trackers in this project. If we introduce non-essential cookies later, we should ask for consent before enabling them where required.

6. Data Retention

We keep account and spot data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service you asked for.

If you remove content inside the product, we may retain limited operational records for security, fraud prevention, backup integrity, or legal compliance where reasonably necessary.

7. Your Choices And Rights

• You can edit profile fields, notification settings, and spot visibility inside the product.
• You control whether a spot stays private, is shared to a group, or appears on a public map.
• You can ask us about access, correction, or deletion requests by contacting support@pean.me.
• If a permission such as location, photos, camera, or notifications is optional for your workflow, you can manage it from your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Pean is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to consent on their own. If you believe a child provided personal data to Pean without proper authorization, contact us and we will review the request.

9. Changes And Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date on this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice inside the product.
