Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Pean — saving places, Apple Watch, offline use, privacy, and categories.

What is Pean?

Pean is a private place-saving app for Apple Watch and iPhone. It lets you save GPS locations in one tap, organize them by category, store them offline, and revisit them on a personal map.

Is Pean free?

Yes. Pean is free to download and use on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Which platforms does Pean support?

Pean runs on iPhone (iOS) and Apple Watch (watchOS). You can also browse your saved places on the web map at pean.me in any browser.

Can I save places without internet?

Yes. Pean saves places locally when you have no signal and syncs them automatically when you reconnect. This works on both iPhone and Apple Watch.

Can I save a place from Apple Watch?

Yes. One tap on Apple Watch captures your GPS location instantly. Your phone stays in your pocket. This is one of the core features of Pean.

Is Pean private by default?

Yes. Every place you save is private until you explicitly share it. There is no public feed, no social layer, and no automatic sharing.

Can I organize places by category?

Yes. Pean has 7 categories: Fish, Mushrooms, Berries, Hunting, Herbs, Landmarks, and Other. You can filter your map by category at any time.

Is Pean good for fishing spots or mushroom places?

Yes. Pean is designed specifically for outdoor spot-saving. It has dedicated categories for Fish, Mushrooms, and Berries, and works offline in remote areas where signal is weak.

How is Pean different from Google Maps saved places?

Pean is built for private outdoor use cases with Apple Watch support and offline-first saving. Google Maps is a general-purpose navigation and place discovery platform. Most people use both: Google Maps for directions, Pean for personal outdoor spots.

Can I add photos and notes to a saved place?

Yes. From the iPhone app you can add photos, a text note, and a category to any saved place.

Can I share a spot with someone?

Yes. Pean lets you share individual spots with specific people you choose. Sharing is always opt-in — nothing is shared automatically.

Does GPS work without cellular signal?

Yes. GPS uses satellite positioning and does not require cellular signal. You can capture precise coordinates in forests, on rivers, and in other remote areas with no bars.

Can I view my map on a computer?

Yes. The web map at pean.me lets you browse all your saved places in a browser. Sign in with the same Apple ID you use on the app.

How do I get back to a saved place?

Open the place on your Pean map and tap the option to open in Google Maps or Apple Maps for turn-by-turn navigation.
